Masjid Al-Aqsa- A sacred Islamic jewel in the heart of Jerusalem.

Masjid Al-Aqsa stands as a sacred jewel in Jerusalem, its golden dome and serene courtyards radiating history, faith, and the profound connection of millions of Muslims to our spiritual heritage.

Masjid Al-Aqsa is a beacon of faith and heritage, its walls echoing centuries of devotion, resilience, and the divine connection between earth and the heavens.

Masjid Al-Aqsa is more than a historical site; it is a profoundly sacred place for Muslims worldwide and a symbol of resilience for the Palestinian people. Al-Aqsa is where countless Prophets have worshipped, and it’s intimately tied to some of the most profound moments in Islamic history.

The Masjid (Mosque) or the furthest mosque, as described in Surah Al-Isra, holds a profound place in the heart of Islam, being one of the holiest sites for Muslims after the Kaaba in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. This sacred sanctuary was the first Qibla, the direction towards which Muslims initially turned to pray, symbolizing its deep-rooted connection to Islamic history and spirituality.

Masjid al-Aqsa was also the destination of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) miraculous Night Journey, or Isra wal Miraj, a journey that brought him from Makkah to Jerusalem and then ascended through the heavens.

In Surah Al-Isra, the Qur’an honours this journey:

SURAH AL- ISRA (17:1)

English Translation:

"Exalted is He who took His servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing."

This event is celebrated in the hadith literature as a night of revelation and spiritual ascension, where the Prophet met with earlier Prophets like Moosa A.S and Ibrahim A.S and was gifted the five daily prayers, establishing Masjid al-Aqsa as a place uniquely honoured by divine encounters and revelations.

The significance of Masjid al-Aqsa goes beyond its spiritual status. For Palestinians and Muslims worldwide, it represents liberation, identity, and resilience. Over centuries, it has faced invasions, occupation, and attempts to undermine its sanctity, yet it remains a steadfast symbol of resistance and an emblem of Palestine’s deep spiritual and historical roots. Through its many trials, Masjid al-Aqsa has emerged as a symbol of unity and hope, resonating with Muslims who see it as not only a physical space of prayer but a testament to the strength of faith in the face of adversity.

The sanctuary's walls and grounds carry the stories of countless believers, each of whom viewed Masjid al-Aqsa as a place where earth meets the divine. Its continued presence is a beacon of strength for Palestinians and a reminder for Muslims of their connection to a cherished, eternal place of worship.Rooted in the history of revelation, it calls Muslims to remember their unity, connection to the divine, and shared journey toward peace and justice.
